Short answers about who this community is for and how it works. If something is not here yet, the board has not decided it.
Who can join?
Anyone for whom Kazakhstan is home, whatever your ethnicity, citizenship or first language. Spouses, children and friends of Kazakhstan are welcome too.
Do I need Kazakh citizenship or Kazakh roots?
No. If you feel connected to Kazakhstan, you belong here. The only thing we ask is that you agree with our goals.
How much does it cost?
Membership is free. Some classes may have a small fee for materials or room rent. We always say so before you sign up, and events for the whole community stay free for members.
I live outside Charlotte, in another town of North or South Carolina. Can I take part?
Yes. The community covers both Carolinas. Most gatherings happen in and around Charlotte, and the WhatsApp group, the newsletter and this site work wherever you are.
I speak only Russian, or only English. Will I fit in?
Yes. We speak English, Kazakh and Russian, and every event and message goes out in at least two of them. Language will not get in the way.
How do I get into the WhatsApp group?
Fill in the membership form. The group admin adds your number by hand. There is no public link, which keeps the group ours.
Does membership give me a vote?
No. The board of directors runs the organization under the bylaws. Members get invitations first, join the group and take part in programs. Decisions are the board's job.
Can I bring children?
Yes. Most of our events are for families. Photos of children go online only with a parent's written consent, see our photo policy.
